Background of the study
Mobile user experience (UX) plays a pivotal role in determining app engagement, particularly for social media platforms where user interaction is paramount. This study investigates how a leading social media platform in Abuja optimizes its mobile UX to drive user engagement. Key elements such as intuitive navigation, responsive design, and interactive features are examined for their impact on user satisfaction and prolonged app usage (Okoro, 2023). The platform employs data-driven design improvements and regular updates to ensure a seamless experience across various mobile devices. Research indicates that superior mobile UX can significantly enhance engagement metrics, including session duration, frequency of interactions, and content sharing (Adeniyi, 2024). However, challenges such as technical glitches, interface clutter, and inconsistent performance across devices can negatively impact user experience. This study will analyze user behavior data, conduct surveys, and assess feedback to provide insights into best practices for optimizing mobile UX and driving higher engagement levels (Chinwe, 2025).
Statement of the problem
Social media platforms in Abuja often experience lower engagement levels due to suboptimal mobile user experience. Inadequate design, poor responsiveness, and technical issues contribute to reduced user satisfaction and interaction. Despite continuous investments in UX improvements, the absence of a truly seamless experience hinders user engagement and retention. This study seeks to identify the key issues affecting mobile UX and evaluate their impact on app engagement (Okoro, 2023; Adeniyi, 2024).
Objectives of the study:
To assess the impact of mobile user experience on app engagement.
To identify challenges in optimizing mobile UX.
To recommend strategies for improving mobile user satisfaction.
Research questions:
How does mobile UX affect app engagement?
What challenges hinder effective mobile UX?
What improvements can enhance user interaction?
